Astrological Fame indicators per Hellenistic astrology âïžđŸŽŹ
Tumblr media
Now before we even get into this let’s make some things very clear; fame can mean a range of things, it can mean going viral, it can mean being a best selling author, it can mean being on tv, on the news or even being a model and singer, the representative of a public and very successful company, and some people get famous for all the wrong reasons like hitler or Donald trump, theres nuance to these things so let’s get into it ‌
1. Chart ruler in the 5th house. This is the first thing that came to my mind instantly which I think is a pretty desirable kind of fame that every normal person kinda soughts after. this configuration is like getting famous for being pretty or having a nice style, being talented, being an inventor, a discover of something or even being a content creator especially since this house literally has significations with creation. The 5th house in Hellenistic is the closest thing to fame and riches because rich people live a very good quality of life. This house will increase the quality of a persons life and any planet here especially the chart ruler or the ruler of the LOF may indicate that. The chart ruler here is generally gonna indicate that a person will be very celebrated by people at some point in their life. I feel like i have to keep repeating to people that this house literally has a relationship with VENUS and Venus kinda just gets whatever she wants
2. A luminary or sect of light within an angular house. The luminaries are the sun and the moon, they both illuminate light and are generally the first things that draw our attention in the sky. The sun sends light to our planet and the moon reflects that light to use when the sun sets and when there’s light upon you, you become easier to see within the landscape that you are in. Generally speaking tho, the luminaries on the angles (houses 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) are gonna describe someone that is popular and who’s name gets around easily. This is one of those things that can mean a range of things like I mentioned above; being in the news, being a city’s official, a representative for a state, your business being featured in a magazine or more exciting things
3. North node in the 5th house. Now I’ve talked about the north node maybe once or twice and each time I did I explained how the north kinda massively increases things wherever it’s at in your chart for better or for worse depending on the house it’s in and this isn’t necessarily something that you have control over either. The north node here can generally describe all the things I mentioned about the 5th house above being massively increased for you when that karma gets activated at some point in your life.
4. North node conjunct the sun. Now I don’t need to do much elaborating about this if you read anything in #2 or #3. The north node increases things massively and some Hellenistic significations of the sun are as followed; being king, being in charge, being recognized for achievement, being the boss, having all the attention on you etc
5. Your 10th house being the 11th place from the lot of fortune. Calculate your LOT of fortune and what house its in, use your lot of fortune as the ascendant and count 11 houses from there, if the house you land on after counting 11 is your 10th house when you count using your original ascendant, that implies some level of fame. The 11th house from the lot of fortune is where a person will find honor and achievement
6. Lof of fortune in the 10th house. The lot of fortune for lack of better words can describe the cards a person is dealt in life and those cards can be good or bad ones. Generally speaking is gonna describe fated encounters in your career
7. ruler of the LOF in the 10th house or planet that rules the LOF conjunct the 10th house ruler (see #6)
8. LOF in the 5th house or 11th house or conjunct either of the benefics. (See#6)
Just a disclaimer that not everyone will get famous for their desired reasons or even famous at all, not everyone’s dreams or goals get realized or see fruition, and not everyone gets successful or popular. If you become popular though it won’t be because you are begging for it, so don’t beg for it if you have either of these placements. You should be recognized for your own abilities without having to strive for popularity, so instead focus on honing your abilities and stop caring about the outcome, chasing people’s attention isn’t sustainable. Don’t overthink it, just do ‌

WIP (I thought I’d be done by now but I’m never done) Wednesday!
Back at it again folks! Alas, Poor Emmrich has been destroying me in every conceivable way. I had most of it finished basically once I posted chapter 11 and then I had a fuck ass idea and spiraled from there so it’s taking a while for me to hodgepodge this motherfucker into something coherent.
So anyways, have THE VERY COLD OPEN and UNADULTERATED intro to Blood Sugar, Chapter 12: Alas, Poor Emmrich
_________
The only good taste in Emmrich’s mouth was what lingered of the wine from dinner. The rest made the base of his neck feel tense. Iron and the filmy essence of lipstick. Like blood being swished through the gaps in his teeth. Dry, dyed hair ran against the knuckles hovering close to her jawline, scratching him.
He had seen the new growth of grey hair at the root during dinner. But the dye she used was too harsh on the threads, making him worried to run a hand through it on the off chance it broke from brittleness. Rather jarring considering the lack of defined lines in her features while being a similar age to him. Though the hair seemed to be the only frail thing about her, everything else was razored and angular.
The attack on his lips stung, taking in the unfamiliar scent of a home he’d never been inside before. Something woody hidden beneath multiple layers of cleaning solution, extremely clinical. This seemed like a good idea a few days ago
Perhaps he should have walked out the moment he’d seen the color of her dress. The bright red fabric gathered between his fingers, hand clinging to her hip. It practically glowed against her pale skin, and it did look nice on her just
Also made him feel oddly threatened.
Aside from her lips and teeth, he felt no real reciprocation from her. At least none of the intimacy he usually anticipated with these sorts of first encounters. No hands cresting over his shoulders, rising up his chest, or tugging at his belt. She stood at the vanity, long, thin fingers curled around the edge of the wood. And despite him being the one leaned into her, with a thumb gently smoothing over a still clothed stomach, it was distinctly her kissing him. Rushed and somehow coming off as annoyed by his presence.
It had been the same during dinner too. She mostly talked about herself, which he didn’t mind, he wasn’t exactly in the mood to discuss himself at length anyway. And he imagined she at least knew some things from Johanna. He was too distracted by the very reason he’d agreed to arrange the dinner. Every time his phone buzzed in his pocket, he waited for the moment she’d inevitably pull out a compact mirror to fuss over herself so that he could check who it was.
Because it was always Rook.
He’d chastise himself internally every time he replied to her. It was rude and frankly unbecoming of him to be on his phone at all during a first date, and especially given the circumstances. But he couldn’t help himself, even if he was meant to be doing this to take his mind off of Rook. It made the event at least tolerable. He didn’t want to be there. And despite the fact that he was currently pushing this woman onto the nearest flat surface of her bedroom, he had no real desire to be here either.
Maker, why was he even doing this? The phone in his pocket buzzed quietly, and a pleased hum escaped his throat. She had positively diabolical timing. It was so late at night too. Perhaps she’s working, it was a Saturday after all. The hand at the dress shifted, curving up into the underside of a bare thigh.
The memory of Rook was there again, searing hot like a brand against his impulses. He wondered why she always wore nylons or fishnets when her legs were more exposed. Wondered if all of them had cutouts like the ones she wore to the Memorial Gardens. It would make sense if they did, given her job, but part of him hoped not. First, because the idea of always having that much access would raise his blood pressure. And second, because the unfortunate satisfaction of tearing the cheap material apart was irresistible to his subconscious.
Rook existed in the endless void of his sight, eyes shut and locked tight. Could practically see the scornful smile on her pretty face if he tore open her clothes with his own hands. Some sort of cheeky retort already falling from her lips about how beastly he always seems to become around her. No doubt she would keep taunting him that way until the ability to form words became too laborious to bother. The echo of those shameless whimpers rattled at his brain stem. Nearly a petulant cry-
“There you are.” A voice carved into him, making every muscle in his body retract with a shudder.

HIGH RANK ADOPTABLE
LICHENSTING | GENDER AND PRONOUNS UP TO ADOPTER | 57 MOONS
THORNRUSH APOTHECARY
A tattered black charcoal tabby with angular features, a missing ear, and a half missing and kinked tail.
They say that once you choose your path, it is uncommon for one to change in such a deep manner as to choose a new calling. Not impossible, though, as is the case of Lichensting. A gnarled and sharp cat with a chip on their shoulder, Lichensting is akin to a hornets nest: best not poked or shaken. Their demeanor isn't exactly pleasant and their bedside manners are lacking, but they are not unkind.
Once a proud prowler of Thornrush Clan, Lichensting was the heart and soul of the hunters and fighters among their peers. Never to back down from a challenge, never one to look away from the face of adversity. Once upon a time, their personality matched this noble heart, but that was many moons ago. Now Lichensting is an Apothecary, after spending three years honing their healing craft to become one of the best.
As a Prowler, a tragic event (left up to the adopter) spearheaded their life into this new direction of healing. But this does not mean they have fully given up the Prowlers Path; they are still among the first to challenge others and unsheath their claws to stand their ground, making them known as something akin to a "warrior healer" or "warrior poet". They speak eloquently for their rugged stature and personality, and just as they are quick to unsheath their claws, they are just as quick to use a sharp tongue.
Will Lichensting ever be truly at peace with themself? Will their hardy attitude continue to find it's place among their peers within Thornrush, or will they get themself into a fight that they will have a difficult time getting out of?
Lichensting will be available for auditioning in the upcoming Thornrush Opening starting October 28th at 12:00AM EST - November 4th at 11:59PM EST!

anasang live (1/11/19)
-now you are watching anasang live recap by @atinylatsub on youtube-
Tumblr media
#intro/
Hello guys, welcome to a new video today we will show the short recap of the last live of Yeosang and Ana where they demonstrate their "great culinary skills" someone don't let them enter a kitchen again
Tumblr media
#clip1
The studio buzzed with a chaotic energy, a blend of excited whispers, the clinking of mixing bowls, and the insistent hum of the camera. Ana, with her signature brown hair pulled back in a messy bun and her green eyes sparkling with mischief, stood next to Yeosang, who was meticulously arranging a stack of pancakes shaped like a rainbow.
'Alright, Atiny! Welcome to our very first Pancake Challenge!' Ana announced, her voice bouncing off the studio walls. 'We're going to be making some pretty epic pancakes, so buckle up!'
Yeosang, gave a small nod, his dark hair casting a shadow over his face. 'We've got a few challenges lined up,' he said, 'and we're gonna try to make them look as good as they taste.'
'Are you ready, my pancake protégé?' Yeosang quipped, a playful glint in his eye.
Ana chuckled, 'I haven't had a culinary lesson since elementary school. This should be... interesting.'
The first challenge was, predictably, a rainbow pancake. Ana, with her flair for the dramatic, whipped up a batch of colorful batter in record time, while Yeosang, a picture of measured precision, carefully layered the batter to create a vibrant arc.
'Woo-hoo! Rainbow pancake, check!' Ana exclaimed, holding up the colorful creation with a flourish. 'A+ for effort, Yeosang!'
#clip2
Next up was an ice cream pancake. This one proved to be a bit more challenging, as Yeosang struggled to find a way to replicate the smooth texture of ice cream. Ana, ever the resourceful one, had a brilliant idea.
'Whip cream!' she exclaimed, grabbing a can from the counter. 'We can make it look like whipped cream!'
With a few strategic swirls of whipped cream and a sprinkle of rainbow sprinkles, their ice cream pancake was complete.
Yeosang deftly shaped the batter into a scoop, adding chocolate chips to resemble sprinkles. Ana gazed at it in awe.
'It's so adorable!' she exclaimed. 'Two down, three to go!' Ana cheered
The next challenge was to make an Elmo pancake. Here, Yeosang took the lead, meticulously crafting the iconic red character with a careful hand. Ana, however, couldn't resist adding her own touch.
'He needs a little bit of sass,' she declared, grabbing a jar of chocolate chips and carefully arranging them to create a small, mischievous grin on Elmo's face.
'Ana, what are you doing?' Yeosang asked, his voice laced with amusement.
'He needs a personality,' Ana retorted, winking at the camera.
The challenge was quickly followed by a Scooby Doo pancake. This time, it was Ana's turn to shine. She whipped up a Scooby Doo-shaped pancake with surprising ease, adding chocolate chips for eyes and a playful swirl of whipped cream to create the iconic Scooby Doo bandana.
#clip3
Their confidence soared until they reached their final challenge: each other.
'Don't worry, Shortcake,' Yeosang teased, referring to Ana's diminutive stature. 'I'll make you look like a goddess.'
Using the batter as his canvas, Yeosang began to outline Ana's features. However, his artistic skills seemed to falter when he attempted to recreate her flowing brown hair.
'Oops, I spilled some batter!' he exclaimed, smearing the brown mixture onto his nose.
Ana dissolved into laughter, wiping away Yeosang's impromptu moustache. 'You're a terrible artist!'
Undeterred, Ana took over the batter and molded it into Yeosang's angular face. She added a mischievous smile and a pair of twinkling eyes.
Their initial attempts were
less than flattering, to say the least. Ana's pancake looked more like a lumpy blob with a slightly crooked nose, while Yeosang's creation resembled a pancake-faced alien with questionable eyebrows.
The room erupted into laughter as both of them burst into giggles. Ana, in her attempt to add details, nearly tripped over a bowl of sprinkles, sending a cascade of colors flying through the air. Yeosang, trying to save the day, reached out to catch her, but in his haste, knocked over a bottle of blue frosting, which splattered across the table in a vibrant, sticky mess.
'Oh no!' Ana cried, her eyes wide with mock horror, 'We're a disaster!'
Yeosang, his face covered in a colorful mix of pancake batter and frosting, could only laugh. 'This is officially the messiest pancake challenge ever!'
The live chat exploded with messages, filled with emojis and exclamations of 'Chaos!' and 'This is amazing!'
Ana and Yeosang, covered in batter and sprinkles, looked at each other, their laughter echoing through the studio. Though their pancake portraits were a complete and utter mess, the sheer joy and camaraderie they shared was infectious.
'Atiny,' Ana announced, her voice breathless with laughter, 'we may not have made the best pancakes, but we definitely made the most memorable ones!
'Okay, Atiny,' Ana said, holding up the two pancakes, 'judge for yourselves!'
The camera zoomed in on each pancake, showcasing their unique interpretations of each other. Yeosang's version was a picture of restrained perfection, while Ana's was a chaotic, almost abstract representation of Yeosang's face.
The comments section exploded with laughter.
'I think Ana wins this one,' one comment read.
'Yeosang's pancake looks like he's trying to be a serious CEO, and Ana's looks like she's ready to party!' another commented.
Ana and Yeosang, despite their competitive spirit, couldn't help but laugh at the reactions.
'Well, Atiny,' Ana said, 'we may not have made the most realistic pancakes, but we definitely had a lot of fun!'
Yeosang, with a small smile playing on his lips, nodded in agreement.
'We'll try harder next time,' he said, his voice laced with playful sarcasm.

Russian stealth hunting Su-57 is ready for export
Announcement was made by FSMTC employees at the Dubai Air Show.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 11/14/2023 - 08:31am Dubai Air Show, Military
Russia is ready to receive export orders for its Su-57 poaching after completing its development program.
Officials of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) declared at the ongoing Dubai Air Show that, "if our foreign partners contact us, we are ready to start working on this topic". They noted that several customers are already showing “growing interest” in Su-57 aircraft.
Since the end of 2022, the Russian Aerospace Forces have received three batches of Su-57, most of which are actively involved in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Notably, some of these aircraft have the latest 'Product 30' engine, also recognized as the 'second stage', improving the thrust and super crucing capabilities of the stealth jet.
The Su-57 launches missiles and bombs from its internal compartment - an exclusive feature shared only by a few selected aircraft around the world.
Tumblr media
In the field of fifth-generation aircraft available for export, the Russian Su-57 is next to the F-35 as a singular competitor.
Rostec's recent announcement announces the start of the 5ÂȘ generation Su-57 serial multifunctional fighter equipment with 2Âș stage post-combustion turbojet engines, labeled as 'Product 30'. With a post-combustion thrust of 18,000 kgf and a maximum thrust of 11,000 kgf, this advance amplifies the thrust-to-weight ratio of vehicles by 1.2 times (increasing from 1.13 to 1.36 kgf/kg with normal takeoff weight with 63% fuel).
This improvement translates into an increased ascent rate, ranging from 330 to 340-350 m/s, along with an increase in angular velocity during constant curves. In addition, it raises the service ceiling and supersonic cruise flight speed to 2,150-2,200 km/h and the maximum speed to an impressive 2,600-2,700 km/h.
Notably, the engines at the center of this advance were created by the team of the JSC Salyut Gas Turbine Research and Production Center.

11 Thoughts I Had While Reading Loki Issue 3
Contains spoilers for the first three issues (but mostly the third issue) of the Loki miniseries. Also likely contains spoilers for many of the comics starring or featuring Loki I normally talk about (including King Thor, Loki: Agent of Asgard, Defenders: Beyond, Young Avengers). Also alternating pronouns for Loki throughout.
So in the "And that's what you missed on Glee" (by which I mean the recap/prologue), they explicitly call Loki the God of Stories, which apparently I missed or forgot about in Chapter Two (or they didn't call him that, but I think they did). So, post-Agent of Asgard, but as yet unclear (to me) if post-Defenders: Beyond or mid-Defenders: Beyond or what.
"But we know what you're probably wondering. What has any of this got to do with Loki?" WHOLE-ASS MOOD. That's what I'm constantly thinking!
Can I just say how much I love whenever Loki hangs out with their Young Avengers friends post-Young Avengers? The YA aren't exactly warm towards them anymore, but they're also not outright hostile usually, so they're almost real friends. It's sweet. Loki deserves to have more than just Verity and Thor in their life. (And they don't even have Verity in this comic, which I'm upset about.)
Loki's look in this issue is just peak genderfluid Loki for me. The fingerless gloves, the coat, the black nail polish, the slightly less angular but not quite smoothed over facial features, the slightly longer and wavier than usual but not shoulder-length hair with the bang flipped over one horn. The make-up.
Tumblr media
(I did not take this picture for this post. I took this picture because I love the way they look in this panel and needed to save it to look at later.) And there was something about his chest on the cover that I couldn't quite put my finger on, but I just put on my binder and looked at myself in the mirror and something about how my chest looks in the binder made me go 'Is Loki wearing a binder?' (This is just my personal headcanon based on the similarities in appearance from my current experience, I don't necessarily think the artist intended to draw him while hinting at a binder, and I'm not even sure how you would do that without showing all or part of the binder itself. Practically, it could just be the effect of his armor. But I'm going with it, even though Loki can shapeshift.)
KO-MIR PULLING A LOKI IN KING THOR CHILLING (no pun intended) IN A SUN
Not me stretching the allegory of Ko-mir to its breaking point trying to make it relevant to Loki.
Ultimately, I don't care how much of a lie the story of how Loki got the piece of Naglfar back is. I love watching Loki at peak power, even if it's not true. I mean, he achieved it somehow, who's to say he didn't do it this way?
The way Loki has nail polish on his cuticles. Something about how his hand isn't steady and he's not so much a perfectionist that he won't go back over the edges with rubbing alcohol afterwards.
Should...should I know who Bullseye is? The only Bullseye I know is a gangly toy horse. This guy looks like someone tried to make a Captain America toy but wanted to avoid a lawsuit.
"Corporate wants you to find the differences between these two pictures" meme, but it's Muck Mulligan making mob bosses' eyes bleed with the Good News of Naglfar, and an Early Modern painting of missionaries bringing typhoid and gunpowder--I mean, Christianity, to the far corners of the world.
So final thoughts re:my post before issue three came out: I wrote an entire note about when I thought this series takes place in Loki's comic arc, and in explaining why I thought it occurred then I ended up talking myself out of it. So at this point I actually think this is after DB, like entirely after DB. He seems enough like his end of AoA (post-ego death) self that I think her memories have been restored to her. The only thing is that Thor isn't dead, like he is for this iteration of Loki, which is established right at the beginning of DB (the timeline for that comic is really confusing), and implied that Loki had a hand in it (again). I think Loki's memories have been restored post-DB, and that enough time has passed since then that Thor's come back (as he tends to do). Probably other comics have established how/why he died in that part of the timeline and then how he came back, and then at some point after those events I think is when this miniseries takes place. Loki isn't quite their old self again, but is sorting through their memories and current personhood and trying to reconcile the two, as well as reclaiming her vocation to save the cosmos (from the end of DB) and figuring out what that means. And making up for past and current mistakes in the form of stopping the pieces of Naglfar from wreaking havoc on the universe. Very much looking forward to what issue four and beyond has in store for him; I think we might finally be back on track for what Al Ewing had envisioned for this character and I'm appreciating that a lot.
What did you all think of this issue? When do you think it takes place, or do you think it's its own timeline that is just cherrypicking interesting story beats from comic Lokis past?

CalmWriMo Day 29
[11/29/2023]
Update!
Wow, crazy that tomorrow is the last day. (0.0) So that at the very least is exciting. Otherwise today has been a little stressful, but most of that dissolved when I lost the last three hours to the beast that is being zoned while worldbuilding. (>v<) Even remembered that drinking water is a thing! So big plus there.
Progress:
2 Hour Writing Goal: ✅
Blurb: [see below]
Self Care:
Food: ✅
Hydration: ✅
Sleep: ❌ [(x.x)]
Reading: ✅
Blurb: Neocago Fashion
As stated previously: Appearances mean a lot in Neocago. In an instant clothing communicates the wearer's status, cliques or group affiliation, how dangerous they may be, and even simply how cool they are. This coupled with a booming desire for personalization has created many unique styles.
While decreasing in use and availability there is still clothing made from old world fabrics. These are most often handy downs that survived the tests of time, or at least what remains of them as patches to mend other clothing. While some new old world fabrics are still made, it is prohibitively expensive for all except for a select few. Instead most clothing and fabrics are made from nylon or polyester.
Styles:
Patchwear: More of a "pseudo-style" resulting from reusing and splicing pieces of clothing together. It is a common look in the Undercity, Junkyards, and with Nomads as a necessity because new clothing is either unavailable or usually not a higher priority than paying for food or shelter. The Uppercity has a very 'missing the point' type of high fashion that imitates this with perfectly good clothes after a few tourists felt particularly inspired following an Undercity trip.
Neo-Western: This style replicates the old western fashion using newer materials. The style's odd return is more for practical reasons, namely keeping dust common out in the Wastes and Yards off of under clothing and skin. High collars that help protect the wear's face and duster jackets are fairly common. Also for those that dare to venture out during the day a wide brimmed hat is a must.
Night Flash: This clothing came alongside the transition to a nocturnal lifestyle becoming the default. This clothing makes use of electronic lighting, reflective fabrics, and glowing materials atop a dark base to outline features or create designs. While typically the full fledged style is more common with party goers and clubs, other styles steal some tamed elements of Night Flash.
Polar-Grey: By far the most common across the Midcity and sees some use in parts of the Undercity and Uppercity. This style often has a few layers to account for cold winters as well as frequent strong winds coming off the lake. Like the name suggests this style relies on the monotony of the color grey. This is only broken by a single, typically bright, color localized to a couple small spots such as a stripe outlining the lapel or a scarf. Fake fur scarfs and detailing is sometimes incorporated. Polar-Grey is essentially the goto for business casual or streetwear.
Neo-Panasian: For a few decades before the Great Collapse there was a massive influx of Asian immigration to the US. Particularly from countries such as China, South Japan [yes, this is intentional], Korea, and Vietnam. In Chicago these people's settled closely together. In an effort to preserve and celebrate their cultural identities they made it a point to produce and wear the traditional styles of clothing from their homelands. After the Great Collapse this trend persisted, although a steep population drop resulted in a "squeeze" as these groups banded closer together to help each other survive. This caused the eventual birth of the Neo-Panasian style that blends many different traditional styles together along with incorporating some more modern trends.
Brutalist: A style that was directly inspired by the architecture of the same name. It frequently pairs darker colors with a rigid and angular design that commands the space around it in a powerful way. Like the architecture it was based on there is a lack of defining details beyond shape. It is frequently worn by higher ups of corporations for business and certain formal occasions.
Utopian: A very new style of clothing only ever used by the wealthy. It aims for a clean look with white and semi-transparent clothing. It has preference for more rounded shapes which sets it apart from the more angular Brutalist and Polar-Grey styles also frequent in the Uppercity. Inviting and calmer colors such as cyan, blue, green, and yellow are used in it's detailing along with shiny gold and silver trims. This style emphasis an artistic and futuristic approach with arches that lift away from the body among other little oddities.
Idolwear: This is the wild card of clothing. This is often worn by idols who are focused on directing attention to themselves as well as distinguishing themselves from others. While extremely diverse and in constant flux each week, there are some common themes. The two most frequent are exposed skin, which doesn't need much said, and a shoulder perch on at least one side. This shoulder perch is common to provide a place for a cam-drone to dock for both recharging on the go and to give a POV or close up camera angle. Otherwise, Idolwear takes elements from other styles or more unique individual designs.
[Oh boy... Was that a bit much? I didn't even exhaust all my notes... (0.0) Anyways and always, hope you had a lovely day, peace (^.^)v]

Henri Rousseau homages in media...
From what I understand, the French post-Impressionist painter's work was out of place at the time of its creation. Time is often kind to art, and like a lot of other actually cool things, Rousseau's paintings became beloved. Hell, his 'Equatorial Jungle' from 1909 really made an impression on me at a young age:
Tumblr media
It was featured in a book that my maternal grandparents owned, part of a series called OUR LIVING WORLD OF NATURE. Rousseau's style seems to be called "naive", as he was a self-taught artist. Maybe back then, that was not seen as an entirely acceptable thing. Nowadays, it's not so bad. Admittedly, his style could be called "childish" or "playful" in some fashion, but what I see is a lush and vibrant look that really jumps out. After all, it was Picasso himself who came across Rousseau's work... Maybe Rousseau was simply onto something. Like a lot of great artists unappreciated in their time are.
So much so, his influence is in the things you see above...
The album cover for The Beach Boys' SMILEY SMILE makes sense, being a more homemade affair than a work in a professional studio environment, not a big production. That, and the music reflects a generally much looser spirit. Following the collapse of the ambitious SMiLE, Beach Boys co-founder and former leader Brian Wilson found himself embracing a weirder, much more minimal approach to the sound he had previously, meticulously fine-tuned and crafted. Went from pocket symphonies to homespun weirdness that polarized people in fall 1967. Even in an environment of rampant psychedelic sounds and exciting transformations of the rock sound up unto that point, it was truly its own beast. A seemingly blasphemous antithesis to what SMiLE was supposed to be, ditto the work Brian had crafted prior to it (PET SOUNDS, for starters). The cover sets the mood: Hazy, often warped and silly music coming from a little forest cottage, surrounded by goofy-looking animals. Like Rousseau's paintings, SMILEY SMILE would see reevaluation decades later. I was initially very mixed on it myself upon doing my Beach Boys deep dive as a teen in the late aughts, but I eventually came to love it. To think, the group wouldn't do something like it ever again. Until at least LOVE YOU in 1977, but I won't go on a tangent there - this would be a multi-part post if I did that!
The reference in THE SIMPSONS episode, 'The Crepes of Wrath' (season 1, ep 11), is also very fitting, as it follows a series of French painting parodies all representing different eras. All as Bart and Ugolin cycle through the countryside. Just a very clever visual gag, the kind that made THE SIMPSONS stand out upon its arrival and the kind that makes the show itself what it is. Just very knowing, savvy humor like that.
MADAGASCAR is a particularly surprising one, considering that it's still kinda-sort of an early CGI movie. Okay, maybe 2005 - ten years after TOY STORY - isn't necessarily "early", but the technology was still being pushed in significant ways back then. An all-animal cast, many of the animals having furs to animate, etc. Cartoony takes and movements, funkier character design and shapes. That was all pretty unorthodox coming off of the likes of FINDING NEMO and SHREK. The Rousseau-inspired look of the Madagascar jungles stands in contrast to the more jagged and angular New York setting, and really gives it a uniqueness. This could've just a lot of plants and vegetation, but no, they specifically chose a certain painter to create this location.

Thelonious Monk: Architect of Jazz Innovation and Uniqueness
Tumblr media
In the rich tapestry of jazz history, the name Thelonious Monk stands as a beacon of innovation, unpredictability, and sheer artistic brilliance. Born on October 10, 1917, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Monk emerged as one of the most influential figures in the world of jazz, leaving an indelible mark on the genre with his distinctive approach to composition and improvisation. Step into the enigmatic world of jazz with our Thelonious Monk-inspired T-shirts, a sartorial ode to the timeless eccentricity and musical genius of the legendary pianist.
Early Years and Musical Upbringing
Thelonious Sphere Monk's musical journey began in his early childhood. Raised in New York City, Monk's exposure to music came primarily through the church, where his mother, Barbara, served as the church organist. Monk's early interest in the piano was nurtured by his family, and by the age of 11, he had already begun to showcase his prodigious talent.
Innovations in Jazz Harmony and Rhythm
Monk's impact on jazz is perhaps most prominently felt in the realm of harmony. His unique approach to chord voicings and dissonant intervals challenged the conventional norms of the time. Monk's compositions, such as "Round Midnight" and "Blue Monk," are characterized by their unconventional harmonic structures, marked by angular melodies and unexpected chord progressions.
His use of dissonance, often incorporating clusters of notes played in close proximity, created a sense of tension and release that was revolutionary in the jazz landscape. Monk's harmonic innovations laid the foundation for future generations of jazz musicians to explore new possibilities in tonality and expression.
The Pianistic Genius
Monk's distinctive pianism is immediately recognizable. His percussive and angular playing style, coupled with his penchant for dissonant chords, created a sonic signature that set him apart from his contemporaries. The rhythmic complexity of Monk's playing, characterized by unexpected accents and pauses, added an additional layer of intrigue to his performances.
His influence on piano technique and style extended beyond his compositions. Monk's idiosyncratic approach to the instrument, with his use of staccato accents and unexpected pauses, challenged the conventional norms of jazz piano playing. His innovations continue to resonate in the work of countless pianists who have drawn inspiration from Monk's groundbreaking style.
The Birth of Bebop and Monk's Role
The 1940s saw the emergence of the bebop movement, a revolutionary shift in jazz characterized by rapid tempos, complex harmonies, and intricate improvisation. Monk played a crucial role in shaping the bebop sound, collaborating with pioneers such as Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. His compositions, including "Well, You Needn't" and "Epistrophy," became emblematic of the bebop era.
While Monk's contemporaries were often at the forefront of the bebop movement, Monk's own unique contributions were sometimes overshadowed. His compositions, though revered by fellow musicians, did not always find immediate commercial success. Nevertheless, Monk's uncompromising commitment to his artistic vision and his refusal to conform to established norms set him apart as a true innovator.
The Legendary Monk Quartet
In the mid-1950s, Monk formed the legendary Thelonious Monk Quartet, a group that featured John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Wilbur Ware on bass, and Shadow Wilson on drums. This quartet, often hailed as one of the greatest in the history of jazz, produced some of Monk's most iconic recordings.
The partnership with Coltrane, in particular, was a meeting of two musical giants. Coltrane's fiery and expressive playing complemented Monk's idiosyncratic compositions, creating a synergy that elevated both artists to new heights. The recordings from this period, including the album "Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane," are celebrated as masterpieces of jazz collaboration.
Monk's Compositional Legacy
Thelonious Monk's compositions have become an integral part of the jazz repertoire. His tunes, characterized by their memorable melodies and intricate harmonic structures, continue to be studied and performed by musicians around the world. "Round Midnight," arguably Monk's most famous composition, has been recorded by countless artists and remains a jazz standard.
Monk's compositional style was rooted in a deep understanding of the blues, and his ability to infuse bluesy sensibilities into complex harmonic settings contributed to the enduring appeal of his music. His compositions often featured unexpected rhythmic twists and turns, keeping both musicians and listeners on their toes.
The Jazz Vanguard: Monk's Impact on the Genre
Beyond his contributions as a pianist and composer, Monk played a pivotal role in shaping the broader landscape of jazz. His unapologetic commitment to originality and innovation encouraged other musicians to explore their own unique voices. Monk's impact extended beyond the confines of bebop, influencing the development of post-bop, free jazz, and avant-garde jazz.
Monk's insistence on individual expression and his rejection of musical conventions opened doors for future generations of jazz artists to embrace their creative instincts. His influence is evident in the work of avant-garde musicians such as Cecil Taylor and Ornette Coleman, who drew inspiration from Monk's fearless approach to musical exploration.
Challenges and Recognition
Despite his undeniable genius, Monk faced challenges in his career. His unorthodox playing style and sometimes unpredictable behavior led to periods of public misunderstanding. In 1951, Monk's cabaret card was revoked in New York City, a setback that restricted his ability to perform in local venues for several years.
However, Monk's fortunes began to change in the late 1950s and early 1960s. With the support of fellow musicians and growing recognition of his artistic contributions, Monk experienced a resurgence in his career. In 1964, he appeared on the cover of Time magazine, a significant acknowledgment of his status as a jazz innovator.
Later Years and Recognition
In the latter part of his career, Monk continued to tour and record prolifically. His later albums, including "Monk's Dream" (1963) and "Criss-Cross" (1963), showcased his enduring creativity. Monk's impact on jazz was further recognized when he was awarded the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997, a fitting tribute to his lasting contributions to the genre.
Monk's Persona: Quirks and Eccentricities
Thelonious Monk's persona was as distinctive as his music. Known for his distinctive sense of style, which often included distinctive hats and sunglasses, Monk's onstage presence reflected his offbeat approach to life. His penchant for abrupt pauses during performances, as well as his sometimes enigmatic behavior, only added to the mystique surrounding the man and his music.
Legacy and Influence
Thelonious Monk's legacy endures not only through his recordings but also through the impact he had on the evolution of jazz. His uncompromising commitment to originality and his fearless exploration of musical possibilities continue to inspire musicians across genres. Monk's influence can be heard in the work of pianists ranging from Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea to modern innovators like Brad Mehldau.
Monk's compositions remain a rite of passage for jazz musicians, a testament to the enduring power of his musical vision. His contributions to jazz harmony, rhythm, and composition have left an indelible mark on the genre, ensuring that Thelonious Monk's legacy will resonate through the ages as a testament to the boundless possibilities of artistic expression in jazz. Embrace the avant-garde flair of jazz with our Thelonious Monk T-shirt, embodying the quirky elegance and groundbreaking creativity of the legendary pianist.

Written by Alex Jones, Ph.D. candidate at Imperial College London Last week the Perseverance Science Team were astonished by a strange rock comprised of hundreds of millimeter-sized spheres
and the team are now working hard to understand their origin.  This image from NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover, a fusion-processed SuperCam Remote Micro Imager (RMI) mosaic, shows part of the “St. Pauls Bay” target, acquired from the lower Witch Hazel Hill area of the Jezero crater rim. The image reveals hundreds of strange, spherical-shaped objects comprising the rock. Perseverance acquired this image on March 11, 2025, or sol 1442 — Martian day 1,442 of the Mars 2020 mission. NASA/JPL-Caltech/LANL/CNES/IRAP. It has now been two weeks since Perseverance arrived at Broom Point, situated at the lower slopes of the Witch Hazel Hill area, on the Jezero crater rim. Here, a series of light- and dark- toned bands were visible from orbit, and just last week the rover successfully abraded and sampled one of the light-toned beds. It was from this sampling workspace where Perseverance spied a very strange texture in a nearby rock
The rock, named “St. Pauls Bay” by the team, appeared to be comprised of hundreds of millimeter-sized, dark gray spheres. Some of these occurred as more elongate, elliptical shapes, while others possessed angular edges, perhaps representing broken spherule fragments. Some spheres even possessed tiny pinholes! What quirk of geology could produce these strange shapes?  This isn’t the first time strange spheres have been spotted on Mars. In 2004, the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity spotted so-called, “Martian Blueberries” at Meridiani Planum, and since then, the Curiosity rover has observed spherules in the rocks of Yellowknife Bay at Gale crater. Just a few months ago, Perseverance itself also spied popcorn-like textures in sedimentary rocks exposed in the Jezero crater inlet channel, Neretva Vallis. In each of these cases, the spherules were interpreted as concretions, features that formed by interaction with groundwater circulating through pore spaces in the rock. Not all spherules form this way, however. They also form on Earth by rapid cooling of molten rock droplets formed in a volcanic eruption, for instance, or by the condensation of rock vaporized by a meteorite impact.   NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover acquired this image of the “St. Pauls Bay” target (the dark-toned float block in the right of the view) using its Left Mastcam-Z camera, one of a pair of cameras located high on the rover’s remote-sensing mast. Perseverance acquired this image on March 13, 2025 — sol 1444, or Martian day 1,444 of the Mars 2020 mission — at the local mean solar time of 11:57:49. NASA/JPL-Caltech/ASU Each of these formation mechanisms would have vastly different implications for the evolution of these rocks, so the team is working hard to determine their context and origin. St. Pauls Bay, however, was float rock — a term used by geologists to describe something that is not in-place. The team are now working to link the spherule-rich texture observed at St. Pauls Bay to the wider stratigraphy at Witch Hazel Hill, and initial observations have provided tantalizing indications that it could be linked to one of the dark-toned layers identified by the team from orbit. Placing these features in geologic context will be critical for understanding their origin, and determining their significance for the geological history of the Jezero crater rim and beyond!  Share Details Last Updated Mar 21, 2025 Related Terms Blogs Explore More 4 min read Sols 4484-4485: Remote Sensing on a Monday Article 1 day ago 2 min read Sols 4481-4483: Humber Pie Article 3 days ago 3 min read Sols 4479-4480: What IS That Lumpy, Bumpy Rock? Although Taylor Swift’s official height is 5 feet 9 ÂŒ inches (175.9 cm), she has humorously claimed in some interviews to be 5 feet 11 inches—or even 6 feet 2 inches in heels, a look she often embraces. As she sings in Long Story Short, “If the shoe fits, walk in it ’til your high heels break,” and Swift has certainly lived up to that mantra, confidently strutting in sky-high stilettos that make a statement both on and off the red carpet. Taylor Swift is often seen in luxury footwear on Your Next Shoes, including brands such as Louis Vuitton, Elie Saab, Sophia Webster, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Stuart Weitzman, Casadei, Brian Atwood, and Charlotte Olympia. Taylor Swift flaunts her legs and feet in Sophia Webster’s iconic butterfly heels at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards, adding height with the delicate stiletto design while showing off her chic pedicure (Credit: Kathy Hutchins / Shutterstock) Before diving into Taylor Swift’s most memorable footwear moments, it’s clear that heels play a major role in her signature style. Whether she’s towering over the red carpet in luxury stilettos or making a statement in custom tour boots, her shoe choices reflect both elegance and confidence. Let’s take a closer look at some of her most iconic designer heels. Stepping into Style: Taylor Swift’s Iconic Footwear Moments Louis Vuitton: During a date night with Travis Kelce in New York City, Taylor donned a Gucci corset and Ralph Lauren coat complemented by Louis Vuitton “Roxy” boots. These sleek pointed-toe platforms, crafted from smooth calf leather, featured a gold-tone LV Circle accessory, adding a touch of luxury to her ensemble. Stuart Weitzman: At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor channeled a punk-inspired look with a yellow plaid Dior ensemble paired with Stuart Weitzman’s “Ultrastuart Maverick” thigh-high boots. These stretch nappa leather boots, adorned with side buckles and silver-tone eyelets, perfectly complemented her edgy outfit. Giuseppe Zanotti: Attending the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Taylor stunned in a sultry black Alexandre Vauthier gown accessorized with metallic gold Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. The triple-strap design and 4.5-inch heels highlighted her model-like legs, adding a glamorous touch to her look. Christian Louboutin: For her Eras Tour, Taylor collaborated with designer Christian Louboutin to create custom footwear. The collection featured knee-high boots, moccasins, and strappy heels, all modified with rubber soles to facilitate dancing and prevent slipping, ensuring both style and functionality on stage. Jimmy Choo: At the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor graced the red carpet in a custom Versace gown paired with black Jimmy Choo “Metz” sandals. The satin uppers and angular square toes of the sandals added a modern edge to her sophisticated ensemble. At the 2025 Grammy Awards held on February 2, 2025, she displayed her feet in Casadei 120mm Cappa Blade Stratosphere sandals that you can buy at Farfetch. Her 4.7-inch heels boasted mixed leather and suede uppers, crystalized accents, open almond toes, and thin ankle straps with buckle closures. I’m like 6’2 when I wear heels, so I tend to wear cowboy boots a lot,” she told EW about her height. Zendaya, Hailee Steinfeld, Taylor Swift, Lily Aldridge, and Martha Hunt towered on the red carpet at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, all standing well above average height (Credit: Vince Flores / Startraksphoto) “I grew an inch [in the past year], which means I’m the latest developing human in the world,” Swift told People in 2015. Taylor Swift wasn’t always confident, especially about her height. In 2008, the singer revealed to Girl’s Life that she felt uncomfortable being taller than most girls in a group. “I didn’t like being tall when I would walk up to a group of girls, and they were all a head shorter than me,” she revealed. Like, if a guy is shorter than me, that’s cool, if he sweeps me off my feet, you know? If a guy’s taller than me, that is cool too.” From red carpet moments to off-duty street style, Taylor Swift’s footwear choices consistently showcase her ability to merge classic elegance with modern fashion. Whether she’s opting for sky-high stilettos or vintage-inspired boots, each pair adds a unique touch to her ensemble. Her impeccable taste in designer heels not only complements her statuesque frame but also enhances her effortlessly chic aesthetic. One of her standout street-style moments perfectly embodies this balance of sophistication and playfulness. Russian Su-57M fighter with new engine will enter service in 2025
Aircraft flight tests have been taking place since October 2022.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 05/02/2024 - 10:08am Military
Russia's Su-57 fighter is scheduled to receive an upgrade with a new engine, the AL-51F, and will be designated as Su-57M when it enters service.
Since October 2022, the Su-57M has undergone flight tests, and according to reports from the Russian website topcor.ru, deliveries are expected to begin by 2025.
The AL-51F engine, formerly known as "Product 30" during development and later named "Saturn-30", will replace the current AL-41F1, promising notable performance improvements. With a thrust of 18,000 kgf, compared to the previous 15,000 kgf, the Su-57M is expected to reach a total thrust of 36,000 kgf with its two new engines.
Tumblr media
Experts predict that this update will result in significant increases in the maximum speed and supersonic cruising speed of the fighter. The Su-57M is designed to reach speeds of up to 2,950 km/h, representing a substantial improvement over the current 2,550 km/h, equating it to the capabilities of the MiG-31BM long-range interceptor.
Improvements in the thrust-to-weight ratio during takeoff, together with the new AL-51F engine, provide high-energy maneuvers, allowing the Su-57M to make stable curves in the arphage plane at an angular speed of approximately 27-30 degrees/s. With features such as a thrust vector deflection system and advanced aerodynamics, the Su-57M gains tactical advantage in close combat scenarios.
Tumblr media
In addition, the flight range of the Su-57M is expected to increase by almost 10% thanks to the AL-51F engine. The ascent rate is projected to increase from 330-335 to 370-375 m/s, allowing rapid ascents at altitudes ranging from 13,500 to 18,500 m. This improved climb rate, combined with the use of Izdeliye-180 and R-37M air-to-air missiles, expands the Su-57M's ability to intercept aerial targets at maximum distances of 180 and 250-270 km, respectively.
Despite the historic delays in the Russian fighter aircraft industry, Military Watch magazine suggests that the Su-57M will probably be delivered before 2027.

TWENTY NINE
For a moment, all everyone in the command deck could do was stare out the windows, speechless, at the immense blanket of black and jagged yellow bringing their doom to them.
“Close shields!” Adas shouted. “Vidi, get in with Way! MAR -” Before she could give him instructions, the door to the command room slid shut behind him, and the master of Parnassus slammed the butt of one baton against the lock. “MAR!” Adas shrieked in immediate panic.
He threw her a jaunty little wave from the outside and strolled with minimal hurry down the steps leading to the nearest platform. The virus was reassembling itself there, gathering up its mass and spiraling up into a new semblance of a body -
A black pillar seamed with red slammed into the monster with such force that they both went flying off the platform. MAR broke into a sprint and threw a hand out; a thin whip of silvery black lashed back, wrapping around his arm. MAR grunted with effort as the sudden weight of the Gridborn came to rest entirely on his hand, making his feet slide on the platform; his free hand activated one of his blades and he drove it hard into the platform, bringing himself to a halt. Below him, Fortis twisted himself into a thin, rippling spiral and threw himself back up, landing on the platform hard enough to make it rattle, twisting himself into a multi-faceted orb and stabilizing himself before becoming a wall once again. “Appreciate that,” the Gridborn said.
“Not at all,” MAR replied gallantly. “Any chance you -” Yellow-and-black tendrils shot past them, spearing into the platforms, the catwalks, the very ceiling of the carrier. The virus heaved itself back up, snarling openly, and MAR fell back to stand side by side with Fortis. “Never mind.”
“Commcon?” Fortis asked. “As secure as it’s going to be.”
“No more.” The virus flowed back onto the platform. Its upper body was exceedingly well defined. The tendrils that had saved it from falling after its hard-earned victory in boarding the carrier resolved themselves into its talons and a passing mimicry of hair around its angular face. It had the finer features of a face, eyes, nose, mouth, but the mouth didn’t move when it spoke. Sound instead rippled from shattered disk to shattered disk, as if it were something solid that had to be activated from one shard to the next. Below the waist it still lacked definition, merely a seething mass of blackened voxels. “No more tr-tricks. No more-more walls. No more gates-s-s-s. Nothing to-to-to stop me.”
MAR activated his second blade. “I beg to differ.”
The virus launched itself at him, multiple torrents of poison and destruction. Fortis spun itself into a wheel and rolled out of the way; MAR ducked under the first attack, slashed at the second, turned the blade around and caught a third, and parried a fourth on his off-blade. Voxels flew.
It spiraled away as Fortis came at it from the side; when the Gridborn turned in an incredibly tight curve, part of its substance separated from that dancing spiral, sped up and caught him dead on, sending him flying away to crash against the steps in a cascade of broken segments.
“Fortis!” MAR tried to turn and check on the Pevirian, but he suddenly had to fend off a flurry of blows as the virus tried to force him away from the staircase.
Astonishing the being, he did. MAR’s blades were blurs, bright white afterimages moving so fast even their own light couldn’t keep up with them. The virus slashed at him; it lost its talons. It regrew them instantly and swiped again; it lost them again, and the second blade took that hand at the wrist. Then the first was coming for it already, and it had to duck away, a strike meant to cut it in half merely slicing partially just above the place where its body merged into the vast, rippling folds of its unformed substance.
The virus fell back. MAR straightened up and pointed one blade at it. “I wager,” he remarked casually, “that it takes quite a lot of concentration to keep even that much of your shape
 well, shaped.”
The virus crackled and spat half-formed sounds of fury for a few moments before it settled back. Several voices laughed at MAR as it gathered its substance to itself. “You are all s-so-so. So predic-t-t-t-table.” It began to reshape itself: a flaring coat, long and elegant limbs, broad shoulders. Even the cravat.
MAR stiffened minutely as he stared at a black-and-yellow reflection of himself, perfect even to the small wild curls of his hair.
The virus smiled. “You c-can-cannot-cannot. Stop me. Only sl-slow-me-slow me down.”
“I’ll quite settle for that,” MAR declared primly.
From the side GAM, shield leading, slammed so hard into the virus that it lost any recognizable shape, turning into a massive splash of voxels, circuitry and dish shards. It screeched in pain; all over the carrier, simulacra screamed with it. Gungnir charged directly behind the Sentry, jumping and spinning to put in as much momentum as he could into a sweeping arch of his lance. The unformed wave of the virus shied away sharply, but voxels still flew, and several circuitry paths ignited, flared and went abruptly dark.
The virus howled fury and launched itself, still little more than a vague shape inside a wave of voxels, at Gungnir. It crashed into GAM’s shield. Before it could either shove the Sentry out of the way or work itself around him, MAR’s lightblades were there, threatening to gut yet more of its substance out, and it had to split into several columns which quickly collapsed and recoiled onto themselves. Pevir’s SysAdmin rushed at it and nearly went through the platform, where their enemy had eaten away at the substance of it, leaving a hole with ragged yellow edges. GAM caught him and yanked him back onto solid ground, so to speak, and the fighting paused abruptly.
“Not-not-not. Real,” the virus ground out. “You are not real. Why won’t-won’t. Why don’t you give up alr-alr-”
“Get off my ship,” Gungnir snarled, shifting the lance to a close-combat grip.
“Your-your-your ship? This ship?” The virus threw two tendrils to the nearest wall and buried them in, and its infection immediately began to spread over the rich black and crimson. “Mine now.”
Gungnir leapt for the tendrils. The virus struck at him, struck instead GAM’s shield. The Sentry shoved forward and nearly went down when it found no resistance; his opponent had sunk back into its mass and reappeared to one side, skittering between him and the SysAdmin. The whip Gungnir was aiming for suddenly began to grow massive thorns all along its length.
The Pevirian slammed the lance down and twisted sharply atop it, barely arresting its momentum forward so that the infected spikes scratched at his armor, but not at him. MAR took down the other tendril, was nearly backed into another hole in the platform for his efforts. Black talons caught onto his coat and cut the fragile substance to tatters, but GAM was suddenly there to catch the virus’ second strike. Gungnir aimed at what he thought was the virus’ unprotected back; a column of voxels sprang from it like energy from a broken pipe and nearly threw him entirely off the platform.
“I rem-rem-emember! I learn!” it told them, its voices rising from hissing, broken whispers to a maddened howl. “You are not-not-NOTHING! I will-will MAKE you not real!”
It dug its tendril out of the carrier’s wall, halting the spread of the infection, and lashed out with it across the entire platform. GAM braced himself and took the blow on his shield, but it sent him skidding down nearly to the edge until MAR braced himself against the Sentry, back to back, and managed to stop him. The tentacle sank into the platform, burst out of its battered substance and slammed into the shield, pushing hard. The virus turned his attention to Gungnir, who fended off half a dozen blindly lashing limbs only to nearly run himself into a swipe of its actual talons. He caught it on the lance inches from his chest.
The virus wrapped its other hand on the lance and yanked as hard as it could. Gungnir went flying and landed face-down on the platform, stunned, his lance crashing out of his hands and landing as a baton by the staircase.
“Pred-predict-able,” the virus slithered over to Gungnir as the SysAdmin, entirely too aware of his vulnerable position, fought himself onto hands and knees. “You are all so-so-s-s-s-so very pred-pred-d-d-dict-dict-able.” It reached for Gungnir’s disk.
A lightblade went through its chest, burning away at the yellow circuitry with its light. The virus halted, caught off-guard. The blow would have derezzed any existing program, but while multiple systems inside the virus did crash, and a single voice within its fracture mind screamed in pain it couldn’t possibly be feeling, it realized after a moment that it was not, actually, dying.
It was abruptly not, however, feeling all that well. It began to turn, and did so just in time to put up an arm as a second blade came flying at it. It lost that arm, and the blade buried itself like a cleaver into the substance of its torso. It cried out, although whether in pain or in surprise no one could’ve said.
“Tell me again,” MAR ground out as white, gleaming last-gen armor swept over him, leaving him looking a very near match to his blades, “how predictable I am.”
